Weekly Bulletin
2008 Tee cup updates
8.12.08
Hello,
There will be an important meeting on Thursday
after golf for the Tee Cup. The tee cup is a little more than a week
away and we need to get organized. We will need volunteers for
registration, breakfast, etc. Louise has a committee for the
luncheon. I would like to see some new faces and give some of us a
break from the State Championship.
I will go over the pairings, details, schedule,
times, etc., at this important meeting. I hope to see you all there.
We will meet rain or shine. If it rains, the meeting will start at
1:00.
We have 36 players. Are we
excited?????

Hello.
The tournament is coming along fine. I
appreciate all those who have volunteered their time to make this a
memorable tournament.
This Thursday will be the Monthly meeting and I
will be confirming all times and dates for volunteers. You should
have received your list from Mary.
Spotters need to attend a meeting this Mon
at 1:00 at the Grille. We will go over the duties of spotting.
I will discuss rules with those who are
playing after the meeting on Thursday. It may benefit you to stay and
review some important rules that you may have forgotten or that you need
clarification.
Holly Scott will be organizing an effort to get potted
plants from those who can lend them to us to use on the women's tee
boxes. Hoping to brighten up the course.
We will be asking for volunteers to come on Sunday
evening to set up the registration tables, etc. Players will be
arriving at 6:00 AM to register. We should also put out the plants on
the course. I also need a few volunteers to set out the hole
sponsor signs. Remember those who signed up for this Thursday to
arrive early. I have forgotten the "theme" for this
Thursday but I am sure that Mary will be reminding:)
BIG
ITEM
All players and volunteers are invited to a
Celebration party on Friday at the Grille at 6:00. We will have a
barbecue with hotdogs and hamburgers. Beer and wine will be also be
complimentary. Come and celebrate the hard work people have been
doing and to gear up for the big day on Monday. I will have
tournament shirts available for $20. We can look mighty fine all
drressed alike and showing Bangor Women's pride. The party is all
free........so be there.......it's party time!!!

Hello,
Here is some information on our upcoming events:
I would like to meet with players and volunteers
for the Championship to be held on Aug. 4-6 this Thursday after golf
in the Grille. I will be giving updates and assigning more specific
responsibilities for Volunteers.
Tee Cup
This year's tee cup will be played Aug. 20 at
PVCC and Aug. 21 at Bangor. I will be meeting soon with the
PVCC rep and making decisions on entry fees and format. Many things
will be the same, but with Harris golf taking over, this may effect costs.
We decided last year to wear the same
"pistachio" Tee Cup shirts this year. If you want to
order another one OR you did not play last year, you need to sign up in the
locker for a new shirt. Diane Herring will be placing that order on
July 25. The cost is $30.
The sign-up sheet is also in the locker
room. We need to know how many are participating by July 25.
I will be putting together a small committee
along with Brenda and myself. This will be discussed among the
executive board. We will once again need people to help with the
banquet, registration, gifts, etc.
I will try to keep you updated as this progresses.

Hi, the spring meeting will be at the golf course on Wednesday,
May 7. Dinner at 6:00 drinks at 5:30. It will be a
buffet for $10. Please let me know if you can attend the
meeting as Tina needs a count by Friday, May 2 my e-mail is lbdski@aol.com or
call 843-7656.
Could everyone be thinking about getting someone to sponsor a
hole for the summer. The price is $125 and we will need a
lot of money because of the WMSGA tournament in August. Looking
forward to a great season and all this nice weather should be
getting the course in good shape. If ladies want to meet on
Thursday, May 1 at 9 a.m. and their is enough you could hold some
sort of a tournament. Looking forward to the spring meeting
and getting out and swinging a club! See you on Wednesday.

Also the end of the active season for posting scores played in
Maine is
Oct. 23rd. (Please, pass this date on to your club members)
Handicaps
will be updated once more on Oct. 26th. So any rounds played in Maine
after the 23rd...do not post. If you go to another state that is
still
in its active season and play golf, those scores should be posted. To see
what the active season is for any state, go to [ http://www.ghin.com
]www.ghin.com. On the left you will see Revision Schedule, click on that
and all states are there!!

Cup Rules
Overall
All
four rounds of the Tee Cup will be net match play. That means
hole-by- hole scoring using handicaps. The visiting team will have honors
on the first hole of play. After that, please play honors based who wins
the hole or has the lowest net score.
At the end of each of the first three nines, teams will record 1 point for
a win, 1/2 point for a tie, or 0 points for a loss. At the end of the
fourth round, teams will record 2 points, 1 point, or 0 points.
The team with the most points wins the Tee Cup trophy. In the event
of a tie, the championship will be decided by comparing round 4, then
moving backward as necessary to rounds 3, 2, & 1.
AT
PVCC
SCRAMBLE
(holes 1-9)
Both team players drive on every hole. The team selects the more favorable
of the two balls and plays two more shots from there. The same format
continues until one team member holes out. Preferred lies of one club
length, no closer to the hole, will be allowed everywhere but the putting
surface as long as you create the same condition; rough in rough,
bunker in bunker.
TEAM BEST BALL (holes 10-18)
Every player plays her own ball. When a hole is completed, the player with
the better net score will record her score for the team. Preferred lies of
one club length, no closer to the hole, will be allowed in your own fairway
only.
AT
BANGOR
ALTERNATE
SHOT (holes
1-9)
In alternate shot, as the name suggests, you will never hit the same ball
two times in a row.
Both team players drive on every hole. Then for the second shot, you both
alternate balls and hit your partner's ball. After both players have hit a
drive and a second shot, the team selects the more favorable of the two
balls. Whomever this ball belongs to, hits it next for the third shot.
The other ball is picked up. The team continues to alternate shots until
one team member holes out. Preferred lies of one club length, no closer to
the hole, will be allowed in your own fairway only.
INDIVIVUAL MATCH (holes 10-18)
During this round, two separate matches are taking place. Every competitor
plays her own ball. Preferred lies of one club length, no closer to the
hole, will be allowed in your own fairway only.
HOLE - IN - ONE
9-20-04

Janet Munro of Bangor aced the 16th hole at Bangor Municipal Golf Course using a three wood from 134 yards. The shot was witnessed by Kathy Anderson, Pam Kropp and Jan Skaggs.
8-17-04
